Analysis of The Merchant of Venice
Antonio put away the entirety of his cash on shipper shipââ¬â¢s. However, Antonioââ¬â¢s plan fizzled â⬠the dealer shipââ¬â¢s were destroyed and now he didnââ¬â¢t have the cash to re-pay Shylock. At the point when Shylock didnââ¬â¢t get his cash, he and Antonio both concurred that Shylock would get a pound of substance from Antonioââ¬â¢s body. The wedded couple Bassanio and Portia, are companions with Antonio and they understood they needed to support him. Portia offered Shylock triple the measure of what the cash was extremely worth. Shylock dismissed the offer however Portia had an arrangement to illuminate the predicament â⬠Disguise as a male appointed authority to spare her companion and furthermore be increasingly outrageous by making Shylock useless. Examination. In the film there are a few intentions, for example, great versus abhorrence, consideration and remorselessness, religion problems (Christian versus Jew), disaster and so on. These contrary energies are on the whole basic with Shakespeareââ¬â¢s compositions. Among the primary characterââ¬â¢s, Antonio is the person who is unselfish in light of the fact that he needs to support his companion, he speaks to goodness. Shylock isnââ¬â¢t really the ââ¬Å"evil-oneâ⬠, heââ¬â¢s all the more a pernicious individual since he lives in a general public brimming with against Semitism and with a girl who left him for a Christian man. I think Shylock has full option to get a pound of substance from Antonioââ¬â¢s body on the grounds that the two gatherings marked an agreement (the two of them concurred on this) The film is likewise about predetermination and force. Whatever happened to the trader ships is nothing Antonio, or some other human, can do about it. When Antonio gets cash of Shylock, he gives the Jewish businessperson all the force. During the last scene when theyââ¬â¢re all assembled in court, Shakespeare obviously shows he needs to keep up the Christian ethical quality and make Shylock ââ¬Å"cleanâ⬠by changing over to Christianity. This could be an image for the battles between the two religions and the principle characters. Vengeance is one of the primary parts in this film. Shylock utilizes his work and wealth to seek after his retribution. In the event that the credit never had happened Shylock could always had been unable to take the evenge to another level. In spite of the fact that Shylock never succeeded his retribution, his fundamental objective was retaliation and never wavered to stop his work. Catastrophe happens when Shylock looses everything in court and shows to ask for leniency. He needs to give all his plenitude to his little girl, convert to Christianity. He didnââ¬â¢t do anything incorrectly, lived in an enemy of semitism society. Most importantly, he had a marked agreement of the arrangement. Take Me Back to Tech (Guest Entry)
Take Me Back to Tech (Guest Entry) by Donald Guy Oh I wish that I were back again at Tech.. Well, we all heard the Chorollaries beautiful renditions of the Engineers Drinking Song, but there is another traditional MIT song (this one in the Logs standard repertoire) that (at least in bits) more accurately expresses a lot of prefroshs current feelings. This is quite seriously how I am feeling at the moment. Like a lot of prefrosh, I am dealing with a lot of senioritis (yes, there is a wikipedia article on it) and Im ready to head back to the tvte. Though I have some great friends here at home (many whom I will miss dearly), I feel like I have friends at (and soon to be at) MIT who I already miss. Since this is ostensibly a CPW entry, I guess I should talk about my CPW. Overall, my CPW was pretty tame. Keep in mind this is saying tame for CPW this is a lot like saying west campus people are normal (they are, for MIT). In any case, for a trip to my new favorite place, the beginning was less than glorious. It can be summed up well in one picture yea -_- Due to nice fog, my plane to Boston never touched down, so I went to Boston from Virgina Beach by way of Atlanta. While displacment is a vector, time is a scalar, so I caught the shuttle and arrived on campus a lot latter than intended (noonish rather than nineish). Over the weekend, the rest of my schedule has been covered by a lot of the other entrants: I was, at times, in the chat group with Omar (in the picture of the cameras, mine is the orange camera phone) I was there for Chriss head injury I went to the CSAIL presentation, 6.02 class, and EECS open house, Ball Drop and many other things where Karen could be found. (In general, her longer blog here closely follows my CPW experience (especially thursday, friday), though somehow I never actually met her) I went to see Roadkill Buffet like Joey C. Like lots of people, I was there for the Icebreakers, festival, Meet the Bloggers etc. Though I didnt play Underground CTF, I did play BCs CTF on Thursday night So, I wont bore you with too much redundant recounting. Quickly here are some pictures/videos I have to add (in roughly chronological order): the housing/dining info session The real beauty of CPW 4th East (Slugfest)s Iron Curtain music visulization project The poor orientation hosts who were in charge of running ice breakers on the chat group (and the one poor guy in the group who wasnt a chat person) The obligatory picture from the roof of Baker (before the party) A nearly empty infinite corridor at 2am on Thursday (Random Standard Time) Our hard-hatted tour group at the new grad dorm where the so-called Phoenix/W1 Incubator group will live for two years. Will U, Kimberly S 12 and I were the only prefrosh to go on the tour of the dorm. It was a really nice (albeit under construction) facility and really will afford the people who go for it great opportunities to jump-start the culture of the former-Ashdown house. That said, Im not sure if I can handle living one place 2 years (WAAY off campus) and another 2 years some place else, both new. For those of you who are adventurous, its definitely worth looking into. 6.02 Lecture on Variable Length Encoding. Very interesting and I actually understood it and learned a lot. Some (anti-)VI propaganda handed out at the EECS open house. (Note: free shirts that Omar didnt get!) The sounds (and almost sights) of the Ball Drop Snively + Me + Colberts my ______ friend pose = AMAZING PICTURE! (if only camera didnt ruin it) Random Halls flying cow. You can hear part of a Random Hall tour in the background As even these few meager pictures show, I had an awesome time at CPW. Keep in mind also that during some of the most awesome times, I was too busy (or forbidden hint) to be taking pictures. For example, during the GBIS A cappella concert, I was literally too awed by the awesome groups (several of which Id love to be a part of), to snap a picture. During the Roadkill Buffet performance (which I forewent Battle of the Bands for), I was much too busy laughing. By far the funniest moment to me, although it may not translate well to text, was during a game in which they had to interject phrases the audience wrote before the show into a scene, Actor 1: *pulls phrase from pocket* GERANIUM URANIUM! Actor 2: Yea, I remember man. Thats what we called you in high school. Everyone was afraid of the Geranium Uranium. I remember they called me *pulls phrase* Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My! Actor 1: yep, we used to call you LTBOM for short .. I laughed to the point of tears (I think you had to be there). Overall, however, I find myself wanting more. Not more from CPW, but more from MIT I need more of MIT soon. This is partially my fault. I enrolled before CPW, so I wasnt running to make sure it was all for me and I feel like I left some things undone. I never saw Simmons nor Senior Haus; I hung out with the chat group a lot and, in doing so, didnt meet that many completely new people (though I actually probably am now best friends with some of the chat people I knew least before the weekend), and I feel like I probably slept too late. The larger cause of this yearning, however, lies squarely in the nature of CPW. CPW was MIT in super-condensed form and, as much as we tried, one simply couldnt experience it all. This isnt really a problem, but it does have a serious side effect: MIT Addiction. I want to go back ASAP. I realize that real MIT life involves a lot of tooling, but Im ready to face that for the rest of it (plus I actually love learning, so maybe psets wont always be torture) (one can hope). I feel ready to learn, ready to tool, ready to punt, ready to hack (if the occasion arises). And yet orientation is 4 months and 3 days away. Being the smart one I am (I got into MIT!), I know that there is still a LOT of fun to enjoy here in my senior year. I will continue to keep that in mind, but like a lot of prefrosh, I find myself singing Take Me Back to Tech. So hoorah for technology, ology, ology oh. ^__^ Until August, ~Donald Guy 12

Construction and Property Management Reflective Report Essay
Essays on Construction and Property Management Reflective Report Essay Construction and Property Management Reflective report à Writing a reflective report can only be organized if one reviews the very first lesson for the first semester that established the coverage of the whole module. For the whole semester, the topics covered well really expansive. Although I have a good background of certain topics such as business, finance, basic accounting and economics, there were still many branches of discipline in social sciences that I must be familiar with. Nevertheless, I resolved to review my notes way back high school days so I would have a good foundation. Also, I took advantage of researching in the library anticipating some topics like business management. I also looked up some construction and property management journals and articles on the Internet and wrote down some terms that I must be familiar with. As expected, I must be able to apply all my previous knowledge to the property and construction industry. Having a concrete background in finance and accounting would really be of great help. The first lecture was all about residential and commercial transactions. I believe the first lecture illustrating the difference of amount between the two transactions caught everybody in the class by surprise. The term commercial is often thought of as something with a higher value than residential especially when speaking of transactions. To my amazement, residential transactions provided the bulk simply because there are more homes needed than just office buildings. Many people even in business circles overlook this fact and fail to explore the opportunity residential property transactions represent. This got me very interested so I tried to read more about such transactions and their sources. This is not to totally discount the good opportunities behind commercial transactions but simply looking deeper at how the housing industry sector affects the whole property business. The figures moved me since I gained a lot of fresh insights and one of them is the fact that doing your homework about a certain industry can give you leverage. This is applicable especially when one is out there in the field with many competitors like in the area of sales. One must be always updated with trends and statistics surrounding the construction industry. Looking back at the beginning of the semester, the first half of the semester was very interesting since most of the topics covered were quite general in nature. The topic that I found interesting most was management. Although I didnââ¬â¢t have a background in management since all I am familiar with is business, I spent some time reading in the library at the very first start of the semester. Management has a very wide scope yet application of theoretical concepts are generally the same. I appreciated understanding the difference between leaders and managers and evaluated myself. I also enjoyed the different management styles and took time in knowing myself better. I took some personality tests and leadership style tests because I believe that a good manager is aware of himself. I also think that the role of managers is very important. In application to Construction and property management, a property manager is usually equipped with skills as well as information about the industry but that does not make him a complete manager. From what I have learned, a good manager must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, writing and speaking skills that can enhance his leadership. A property manager is not just confined to his desk looking at plans or schematics; rather, he is interacting with all kinds of people on a daily basis. So of one hopes to be a good property or construction manager, he must be ready to deal with people. I think some engineers, architects and technical people need to realize this fact especially nowadays when sales and marketing is part of the whole construction and property industry. Even in residential transactions, rentals of property require good communication and negotiation skills aside from just knowing the safety regulations or blueprint of the property. I n business transaction, clients are lost are gained depending on customer relationship exhibited by property managers. As time passed by, the topics touched on procurement methods. This part of the semester enhanced my skills in working with a team especially when doing group work assignment. During the procurement methods projects, I understood how vital procurement method is in project development. When the delegation of tasks was done, I immediately gave time researching the topics assigned to me. It could be said that group assignment projects should be always be done in class since students develop important team building skills that they would need someday in the field. An important aspect of group work assignments is collaboration so a project can be accomplished. Everyone must help one another because if we let down a team member, all of us would get delayed in a project. There are times when we had to disagree about methods but the leader was a good facilitator so we end up settling our differences. Time is also another issue when working on a project which all team members must realize. In large scale construction projects, tools like PERT can help engineers or managers track a projectââ¬â¢s progress but peopleââ¬â¢s willingness to collaborate and communicate still matters a lot. Another interesting topic that made read me read a lot is marketing. As aforementioned, customer relationship skills can gain or lose customers in property management which is why marketing is very vital. Poor marketing planning can highly affect a property no matter how beautiful it maybe. It is also important to maintain a balance between finances, operations, human resources and project management. Indeed, being a property manager can be very challenging especially if one lacks experience. All the theories and concepts learned must be applied in the right situation which only experience can teach. In conclusion, the whole module is very relevant to students taking this course. I improved my researching skills, communication skills, reading skills and even presentations kills. More group work assignment should be given especially ones that would do a case study so problems can be solved. Learning has never been this enjoyable and meaningful this semester.
